[/b][/color]Name: Taiyoureki 'Taija' Dokan
Age: 124
Gender: Male
Character Type/Occupation: Shinigami
Rank: 13th Division 6th Seated Officer.
Blood-type: O+
Personal Information
Physical Appearance:
Taiyoureki is a brown-haired and slightly tall young man. His slightly tanned Caucasian skin is wrapped around the solid light build of his body. Skinny but strong, Taiyoureki weighs in at around 77kg. Remaining as he did the moment he died, he retains some of his lifetime scars, and nicks mostly around his torso, and arms. Taiyoureki's hair is always somewhat messy, as if he wakes up, washes his hair, and just leaves it to see how it'll look. Not being the self-conscious type, Taiyoureki has little concern over it. His face is slightly angular, and long. Taiyoureki's eyes hold in them a look of constant remorse, as if always grieving for a soul which was once close to him. His sad eyes are the color of a darkened sapphire, his gaze can cast an icy sadness onto people who look deep enough into his eyes. The rest of Taiyoureki's face is mostly average, his nose not too long, and rounded off at the end, but is slightly thinner than most other noses. His eyebrows change with expression regularly, they are thinly set, but easily recognizable. His lips are thin as well, and slightly pale, as if he is constantly pushing his muscles together in his mouth to keep it shut.
Taija's clothing mostly consists of Shinigami issue uniforms. The black kimono robes, which he seems to wear with pride, having them relentlessly cleaned, and repaired after battles to perfection. His white undergarments can be seen hanging slightly out of the sleeves of the kimono robes, and on his chest. Sandals and socks are also small parts of his uniform as well, though hardly notable as they are standardized and have no real customization. The few customizations Taija has added to his uniform is a patch on his left shoulder, instead of inside of his robe. It is circular and white, with a black symbol of his division on it. He has also customized it's waste-wrap to accommodate the special sheathe he uses for his Zanpakuto.
Personality:
Taiyoureki 'Taija' is a smart fellow, knowing much about the world, and how it works. The kind of guy who will keep to himself unless something he has to say will have any relevance to the situation. Not the type for social gatherings, and is as some may label him 'Loner'. Though, Taija was not always like this, hence him having a nickname. In his human life, he was a bit out an outgoing, curious kid, though this was changed after an incident which would rip a past love, and himself apart. Taija can be friendly, and talk more than he allows himself, but refuses to because of a constant guilt which rains over his head. Keeping his face somewhat stern, and unfeeling, at times when he lets his guard down, he is able to smile, laugh, even joke. Something like mood swings plague Taija, but he tends to deal with them, unfortunately others condemn him as being strange, and shun him. Taija pays little attention to these allegations, he is as normal as he can be. A battle-hardened Shinigami, Taija follows orders, and a certain moral code he set about for himself, to prevent further 'mistakes'. His moral code is comprised mostly of lessons he learned himself, 'do not bite off more than you can chew' and other phrases litter his subconscious codebook. His most prominent code, which he attempts to enforce upon others in his squad is 'Do unto others as what you would do unto yourself.'
Because of his mental state of almost constant sadness because of his loss, he has grown close to his Zanpakuto, so close in fact, that even his Zanpakuto calls Taiyoureki 'Taija' and often refers to him as her 'little brother'. Though seemingly impossible, it is a merely spiritual bond the two being share. Being reassured, and reinforced by the strong-willed Zanpakuto he wields, he is able to temporarily overcome his world of sadness to fight on for his Shinigami cause. This drive within him, through his conflicting personality, is his only release, it is how he makes up for his one mistake, with zealous vigor. Though, he does carry with him a residual part of his personality from his human life, as he had, and still does have a strong sense of Wrong and Right, which is reinforced more-so by Kagidzume's advice. He follows this Wrong and Right sense even to the point where it would contradict his zeal for Shinigami order.
Though, after nearly a century of grieving his loss, he is beginning to come to terms with it. Though Taija is quite far from forgetting about his love, on his own he is beginning to cast off his constant veil of sadness and mourn. Because of near a century of grief, Taija speaks in a slow, hoarse manner which hardly has any enthusiasm.
History:
Taija was born in the late 1800s a few miles out from a small village into a Japanese farming family, him not being the only child. Taija was one of eight siblings, which included one sister and six older brothers. He, being the youngest, was babied and taken care of by his mother until the time came when he is father deemed it right for Taiyoureki to work in the rice fields around the age of 9. Taiyoureki didn't gain much of a build from menial farm work, but he did gain considerable strength, despite his body not showing it. By the age of 12, after working on his father's rice farm for three years, Taija began to show a large amount of intellect along with his strength. He learned fast from his father's teachings, unlike some of his brothers. He, two of his brothers, and Taija's sister were sent off to
Nagasaki where they would go to school, and learn to exceed in life. His parents knew that with schooling, their children would become successful, they were wise. Taiyoureki was more outgoing in his past then he now is, a friendly and opportune kind of kid, he made fast friends, and worked hard at his studies. A Model student, he impressed his siblings and classmates, with his knowledge, ability and willingness to learn. Unfortunately that attracted some unwanted attention, as some children attempted to take advantage of that. Taija, however, made short work of most people who would take advantage of his mind with an iron fist forged from hard work. Life was great for Taiyoureki, and got even better when he turned 14, and learned much more than just textbook things. Taija was quickly becoming aware of the opposite gender, and the attraction they led. Though Taiyoureki could not work up the guts to ask any of them if they felt the same way about him until he turned 16. His studies began to slip as he worked on his persona of finding the 'right girl' to court. That was, however, until he met Mahou Tetsuke. She was a gorgeous young lady whom had sailed overseas with her parents to live in Japan, away from the hustle and bustle of North America in it's depressing state. Of course, Mahou Tetsuke was not her English name, it was a rough transliteration into Japanese so she could live in Japan without the kids having to learn too much advanced English at that age. Taija instantly fell in love with the red haired beauty, and a few weeks after she was introduced into the class, Taija worked up the nerve to ask her. She was rough in her Japanese, but she was still amazing as ever. They hit-off amazingly, and the two were inseparable. Mahou would trade English phrases and Literature on advancing lessons in Japanese from Taija. Since Taiyoureki was quick the mouthful for an American girl to spit out, she began to call him simply as 'Taija'. He accepted the nickname without hesitation, it was a neat change which he enjoyed.
Spending long hours at a river near the outskirts of Nagasaki, Taija and Mahou claimed this place as their own little spot. As they advanced into their late teens, Mahou and Taija became increasingly closer, that was, until a brutal run-in occurred. Japan was still in it's Imperial Age, and was no stranger to there being armed raiders outside of large cities preying on foreign and local trading caravans. As unlucky as Mahou and Taija could get, they both were caught by their river, a group of raiders finding them. Without mercy, or hesitation, they were robbed, and tossed into the river, where they met their untimely deaths. Taija felt little need for vengeance, as he knew they were running the risk all along of being caught by these raiders. In the afterlife, they were forced to haunt their river for a time, together at least. That was, until they were found by another kind of raider. A Strange being which Taija would later find out was a hollow. This was when Taija made the one mistake, he could never forgive himself for. If not letting them both get killed, Taija attempted to fight off the beast instead of taking Mahou with him and running. Taija was brutally beaten away, and Mahou was taken, the beast grumbling something about 'being back for him later'. Left demoralized, and depressed at the loss of his love, he could do nothing more than sit by the river and mourn himself, and his lost lover. That was, until he was found by a Shinigami, a Death God. He had heard legends at this time, but never thought them to be true. Such prowess in a humaniod form, much like the Samurai of olde, these men (and women) impressed Taija just by their looks. And even more-so, when the Hollow came back for Taija. The beat, returning from a black rip in what seemed to be the fabric of the world itself, it emerged, angrily. The Shinigami who was about to perform a soul burial upon Taija felt he should deal with the mere Hollow before burying poor Taija. And so, Taija watched as the Shinigami released his Zanpakuto, and with one mighty swing, slew the beat which had taken away his love. Though it was not a full vengeance for his loss, it would be enough to hold his heart until he would later graduate form the Shinigami Academy. After that, Taija was promptly buried, and sent to Soul Society. Perhaps his violent death had something to do with it, or the stress of losing his love even after death, one thing was for sure, Taija had changed. His spirit-energy had grown much more than that of a meek human soul. Because of this, he was given the choice to join the ranks of the Shinigami, and help their cause. Taija accepted fully, for he knew that he may be able to find his lost love if he did this.
Taija was sent to the Shinigami Traning academy, where for the full six-year program, he learned the ways of the Shinigami. Basics, such as learning how to use the Zanpakuto he was given, though at the time he did not know its, and as he would soon learn, her name. As well as how to perform a basic soul-burial. He was trained in the basics only, the rest he learned, and has to learn on his own.
Taija, upon graduating, was given a quick test mission before he would be deemed fit for active service. There was a hollow terrorizing his home town of Nagasaki, hunting down and stealing away poor souls that came in it's rampaging path. Taija was assigned to slay this hollow, and quell it's rampage for the time being. Taija was sent into Nagasaki, and easily found the rampaging beast. His Zanpakuto sheathed at his hip, he drew it, and began his epic, and rather unskilled battle against the Hollow. Parrying, and dodging merciless attacks from it, it's ear-shattering screeches filling the streets, though no one could hear it but the frightened souls of those who had yet to be buried. This epic battle would come to a close when Taija found an opening in the Hollow's defenses, slicing his Zanpakuto through it's arm, and with his trained, honed, and quite tremendous strength despite his looks, he shattered some of the Hollow's Mask. Taija was shocked to see his Mahou underneath the mask. So shocked, in fact, that he fell to his knees in disbelief. Shocked, and stricken with grief, Taija was smacked and mauled by the Hollow to the point where he was almost dead. He thought about it, strange to be killed by the one you once loved.. A very ironic death. His life was changed further when he heard a voice, faint at first, but it seemed to emanate from his blade. The Short Katana which he wielded was speaking to him, in a feminine voice no less! He thought his mind was playing tricks on him, and who could blame him? Taija was beaten to the point where anything could have made sense. The blade urged him to stand up, in a commanding, yet soft voice of a young girl. By some unknown force, or just sheer willpower, Taija stood, Zanpakuto in hand at the ready, bleeding from his hairline, and the edge of his mouth. The Hollow's mask had regenerated by now, and it roared with tremendous might. Taija closed his eyes for a moment, before whispering a small ode to his lost love. If she had joined the ranks of those vile beasts which took her away, she was too far gone for reasoning. He was quick to the decision, and so with his ode 'I am sorry' Whispered under his breath.
Taija's world frozed for a moment, what seemed like a few minutes was like a few milliseconds in reality. He was in a white world, where nothing was around him. Just him, bleeding and standing there with his Zanpakuto. Taija looked around himself, wide eyed, wondering where he was. He felt his Zanpakuto gone, it was all extremely strange for him. Maybe it was a final death hallucination? He was ready to believe anything now. Taija swayed for a moment before he fell to his knees, and sat down, burying his face in his hands, almost to the point of sobbing. There, he was tapped on the shoulder. Taija, looking up from his hands, was the image of a young girl. She looked so much like Mahou, that it put Taija is a temporary state of awe. She smiled and giggled at him as he looked at her with wide eyes. 'Who.. Who are you?' He asked the girl, whom seemed to be a spirit. Se giggled at him again, placing a hand over her mouth. 'Kagidzume' She said with a giggle and a smile in the same soft-spoken, but slightly commanding voice which ushered him to stand. She held Taija's Zanpakuto in her hands, behind her back, and Taija could see the tip of the blade. 'Then.. what are you?' Taija quickly followed up. She smiled, closing her eyes, and handing the Zanpakuto to Taija. He grabbed hold of it, and as the white world around him began to dissolve, he heard the whisper, in the same girlish voice 'Find out.. and Slash!' followed by a faded giggle.
Taija opened his eyes to the world around him, only what seemed like a second went by for Taija as he stood there in disbelief. She.. Kagidzume.. She was connected to him somehow.. was it a Hallucination? The Beast roared and took a swing at the weakened Shinigami. Taija parried the blow, but not without taking some damage himself, trying to decipher what this all meant. Finally his mind came to the strange conclusion that she was his zanpakuto.. That was why she held it.. That is why it disappeared from his hands at the beginning of his hallucination. Holding the Zanpakuto at the ready, he shouted out 'KAGIDZUME.. SLASH!' He didn't know why he said the slash at the end, but he remembered it from her whisperings. He felt the sword rapidly change in his hands, shaping itself strangely. It was much longer than it previously was, but also it was much stranger, it now had two edges, and was serrated. He held it horizontally instead of like a sword, it was more of a 'fist'. It felt a bit more natural for him to wield it like this. In his mind, he heard the girlish voice of Kagidzume speaking to him. 'Congratulations Big brother!' she said in an extremely girlish voice, as if she were his younger sister. The pep in her though, seemed to flow through Taija like water, as if his strength was temporarily renewed. The Hollow growled and screeched at Taija, throwing another blow at him. This time, the blow was completely blown off by Taija's Zanpakuto. The saddened look in his eyes as he sliced off the arm of his Hollow-form love. 'Goodbye..' Taija whispered to her, before he changed the Hollow, and thrust his blade into it's torso, pulling up and out at the same time to fully utilize the serrations like a kitchen knife. The beast was slain, and it's remains faded away into a bright dust. Tired, and weakened, Taija returned to Soul Society. From then on, he was assigned to full-duty as a Shinigami.
Character-type Information:
Zanpakuto's Name: Kagidzume
Personality:
Kagidzume is quite a cheery spirit, though not much more talkative then Taija, she communicates to Taija in order to boost his morale when all hope seems lost for him. She cares for Taija like a little brother, often referring to him as her younger sibling. Taija is close to Kagidzume, just as she is to him. She is a strong-willed spirit residing within the blade, often whipping Taija from a saddened, completely lost state, into a berserk, but much more cheerful mood with a few statements, and suggestions to him which helps him realize how much of a fool he was acting. Kagidzume enjoys the presence of Taija sometimes (as her name is 'claws') acts like a kitten or Neko to help cheer Taija up with strange antics. She refuses to be used, or touched by another Shinigami, even in the event of Taija's death, she could never be assigned to another Shinigami, or even used by another. She is zealous in her care for Taija, and wishes for nothing more than to aid him in whatever endeavors may befall him.
Avatar's Appearance:
Despite Kagidzume's position as being 'big sister' of Taija, her appearance is nothing more than that of a young schoolgirl no older than her early teens. She appears to wear a school uniform with a short skirt and long-sleeved sweater. Though the colors for it are black and white, save a red ribbon which goes around her neck, and is knotted before her chest. The skirt she wears is black, and the sweater is white with black lines going from the shoulders down the sleeves. She wears knee-high white socks, her feet, and shins are usually faded away when Taija looks upon her. Her hair is down, and is a dark brown, with a red ribbon tying her bangs out of her face. She appears to have a pale complexion, with beaming green eyes which seem to cast an aura of warmth. She bears a close, and extremely striking resemblance to a girl he used to love.
Activation command:
'Slash! Kagidzume'
Zanpakuto's Appearance:
In sealed form, she looks like a short-bladed ninja-style blade, with a broken hand guard. Though her blade appears shiny, and well honed, the handle is in a sorry state, being well-worn, the black fabric grip on it is half-unraveled to reveal her chipped ebony handle. Taija has hung a trinket or two off of the hanging strip of fabric, though often losing them, he has finally settled on tying the ripped off fabric grip to what remains, and tied a small counterweight to it.
Zanpakuto's Shikai form:
In shikai form, Kagidzume transforms dramatically, her handle becoming horizontal, but slightly diagonal to compensate for the weight of the blade, in between two vertical parallel bars. These bars are held together and parallel by another horizontal bar which is fastened to her blade. Transforming her blade from a thin Katana blade into a thick European-style double-edged blade about 5 feet long, and 5" thick at the base. The blade itself is slightly ornate, with some carved in and blackened Kanji symbolizing 'Peace'. The blade's edges jaggedly serrated. Taija can still perform soul burials with the hilt of this 'punch sword' weapon, having to tap the pluses with the lower bar instead of the actual hilt.
Shikai abilities:
The blade itself, Kagidzume, has a small defensive ability. Upon Taija's incantation of 'Arise the parting' She can literally split herself in half (Just the blade) and open up a 'V' in the main blade, revealing a slightly shorter, but just as potent blade within. This can be used, if necessary, to parry an attack or even disarm an opponent by catching the opponent's sword inbetween one of the 'V's the sword now forms. Though, if Taija feels the need, he can close the main blade while an enemy's weapon is still seated within one of the 'V's by calling out 'Descend the parting'. The blade will snap shut with the enemy's blade within, either chopping a part of the enemy's blade off, or shattering the entire blade altogether. Though depending on the enemy's blade, and whether it is a Zanpakuto or not, it will require varying amounts of his concentration in order to actually close Kagidzume upon it, sometimes to the point where it would be far too much mental stress upon Taija to do so, thus he would be unable to close it upon the Zanpakuto.

Taija gripped Kagidzume tightly as he faced the Hollow down. The streets were empty at this time of night in Nagasaki. No one in the physical plane or spiritual plane was on the street except Taija, Kagidzume and the Hollow. His lost love within the confines of that tainted soul. Taija had learned what Hollows really are from his Academy studies, but was still far from accepting that his Love had been tainted. His hands shivered a bit as he held the blade before him, remembering that strange hallucination he had just a second ago. His mind raced to find out more about what she meant, what she was trying to tell him. The Hollow made a move, it swiped with one of it's massive paws at Taija, smacking him slightly, but he parried with the short-bladed Zanpakuto he wielded steadily. Groaning from the pain as some of the blood from his hairline wound seeped down his face from the pressure of holding back such a blow. He slid a few feet from the impact, but remained on his feet. What did it mean? What did it mean!?! Taija was about to smack himself to try and figure it out, before he finally made sense of it. It was all coming back to him now, she held the Zanpakuto, and told him her name while she held it. It had disappeared from his hands the moment the Hallucination began. Of course! She was the sentient spirit within the zanpakuto! Kagidzume..
"Kagidzume!..."
Following up short on his shout out to the Hollow, he thought of something else to say, He remembered her whisper 'slice' or something to him. He decided he would add that as a prefix to the call.
".. SLICE!"
And with that, Taija's blade transformed. He could feel it change, shift it's form. He could even see the blade change and extend before him. It grew long and with it, had jagged serrations. It was a magnificent sight to behold, such a transformation. Taija stood there awestruck, before he shook himself free, and held the Zanpakuto up to get a look at it, the outside of the thick-style blade on either side was carved with an ornate Kanji, which read out 'Peace' It was blackened in, but beautifully carved into the folded steel. In his mind, he heard, and could almost see the Avatar of that girl before his eyes, she spoke in her girlish whisper "Congratulations Taija!" She said to his mind. He thought it strange how she referred to him as that, but all things would be revealed later. For now.. There was only the Hollow to deal with.
