Personal Information
Physical Appearance:
Shirogitsune has a very unusual feature for a female that causes her to stand out in a crowd in the fact that her shoulder-length hair is completely white. It flips upward slightly at the ends right above her shoulders and is surprisingly downy soft, given that she’s not much of a vain girl that would spend a lot of time on her hair. Her skin tone contrasts slightly with her hair color with a very light tan, and she has crystal blue eyes, bright in her face. She’s a bit on the small side at only five feet and weighs in at ninety-five pounds, lightweight with a naturally smaller structure, but she has a bit of a cat-like build, toned without much body-fat at all and has a small chest.
Being in the guard and intelligence-specialty 2nd squad, Shiro, Byakko-sempai to those lower-ranked, wears a ninja-like outfit, unique to the 2nd squad. Her uniform is completely black from the flexible, closed-toed shoes, to her slightly form-fitting silky pants, to the long-sleeved shirt, over-vest, and wrist covers that go over the shirt from the base of her hands to about her elbow that she wears. She also wears the black cloth that covers her lower-face, just like every other 2nd squad member, but she occasionally forgoes the black bandanna that goes over the top of her head. Even when she wears it, most of her white locks stick out from under the cloth and flip out at her shoulders, offering a stark contrast to her black uniform, causing her to stick out in a crowd.
Personality:
Shirogitsune really cares about those around her that she gets to know, even if she doesn’t exactly spill out tender affection since she’s a bit rough around the edges at times, a lingering effect of her upbringing. When annoyed, she doesn’t bother to hide it, and unless she knows it’s not the time or place for it, she’ll say what’s on her mind. Though quick to gently reprimand fellow Shinigami who don’t pay attention to what’s going on, she’d quickly defend anyone who she was trusted to command even if it meant putting herself in danger, earning respect from others through this. Though she’ll occasionally act a bit over-serious when it comes to assignments, most of the time she knows how to act laid-back and friendly enough to be approachable but not be taken for as stupid. When it comes to just being a Shinigami, Shiro is devoted and honorable, holding a high respect for those above her, such as Soi Fong-taichou, except for those that have been placed into positions of command merely due to birth or pulling some strings, such as her Fukutaichou, who though she’ll follow orders from, does so grudgingly.
When it comes to not just being a Shinigami though, Shiro likes to have fun. Quite a change from her old, serious self, Shiro often smiles when off-duty and has a bit of a happy-go-lucky exterior, often in the middle of a crowd of people. She’s gifted at reading how others are feeling, and thus is able to respond by acting in such a way is appropriate to match it. This also helps her intelligence-gathering abilities, picking up on things that others might miss. Due to her former life as a thief, she knows how hard life can be, and has a quiet, hidden strength. She can also move about swiftly and silently, the latter of which comes naturally, often causing others to think that she’s snuck up on them when in reality she didn’t try, which can make for humorous situations sometimes.
History:
Byakko Shirogitsune wasn’t by any means born into a loving family, a royal house, or even an okay part of Rukongai, but rather in a ratty shack in the worst part of Rukongai, 80th district Zaraki. When her mother saw that she had given birth to a girl with pure white hair, she immediately became alarmed. Deciding to abandon the child, she ran to a thick part of the woods, leaving her at the base of a tree before running off, leaving her with only the blanket she was wrapped in, along with a piece of paper with her name hurriedly written down on it. Since Shiro’s mother was superstitious, she had believed little Shiro to be possessed by a white fox spirit, thuse Byakko was the surname give, and Shirogitsune was simply a white fox. Perhaps it was karma, but not even a full day later a renowned thief lord of Zaraki slaughtered the woman, a man by the name of Ryuuzaki Kenshin, also known as the Black Fox of Zaraki, not only because of his hair color, but also because he could slip in and out of any dark places unnoticed. On a whim he decided to take some of his followers and follow her trail back to where Shiro was. Astonished by how different the babe was from him in appearance, yet having a name that was kin to his alias, Kenshin decided to raise Shiro as his own and teach her everything he knew. Over the years of being raised by Kenshin, Shiro lived a life as a thief, stealing to survive, defending herself from the animalistic murderers of Zaraki by using what Kenshin had taught her. By the time she had reached late adolescence, Shiro was just about as well-known as Kenshin, and their thieving gang had spread influence into the next five districts. Shiro was second-in-command, next only to Kenshin.
While Kenshin had managed to hammer in all sorts of thievery techniques into Shiro, he had been unsuccessful in making Shiro completely cold and heartless like he was, though she was able to maintain a cool exterior when in a pinch. She was even able to defeat multiple opposers from other groups, yet had held back most of the time, just short of killing them. She had even dared to take a small amount of their loot and use it to supply water for some of the more unfortunate souls in Zaraki, but always making sure to hide her identity while she did so. Deciding once and for all to destroy the tiniest bit of soft-heartedness that had somehow managed to survive within Shiro, Kenshin decided one day to make a bold incursion on the 73rd district for a string of burglaries, only taking Shiro with him. This lasted for several months before a Shinigami finally arrived and began investigating, not needing much time to catch the duo in the act. However, on this particular job, the two had been taking loot from a small house of a family that had a small child. As the Shinigami began to charge for the kill, the child wandered on to the scene, woken by the ruckus. Seeing an opportunity, Kenshin grabbed the child and held a knife to its throat, causing the Shinigami to stop in his tracks. Using the child as a hostage, Kenshin demanded that the Shinigami drop his zanpakuto, so he did. Next, he ordered Shirogitsune, who was standing not too far behind him, to run her katana through him. At this point, Shiro realized that she was slowly becoming like Kenshin, and that if she followed his orders, she may never be able to turn back. Nodding grimly, Shiro unsheathed the katana from her side and began to stride forward, only to make a sudden movement before reaching Kenshin, catching the wily fox completely off guard and beheading him in a swift, single stroke from behind. She caught the child, who had fainted from shock, and set him down gently before wiping the blood off her katana and sheathing it. She then turned to the Shinigami and said that she was ashamed to have lived her life as a thief, but it had been a necessity and felt that she had redeemed herself by taking down one of the biggest crime lords in Zaraki. Sensing that Shiro had more reiatsu than the average soul, and that she also had a truly repentant heart, the Shinigami told Shiro that he wouldn’t punish her on one condition…enter in the Shinigami Academy.
Though surprised, Shirogitsune took the offer and went to take the exam. Thankfully, her name wasn’t known past the 77th district, so no one even knew she was a former criminal as she got closer to Seireitei. The only way they knew she was from one of the worse parts of Rukongai was the state of disrepair that her clothes were in. Upon reaching Seireitei, she managed to take the exam for the school and pass with flying colors, already being swift of movement due to her lifestyle. Though put into the Honors Class, everyone knew she had no noble background and thought of her as Rukongai trash. Her guarded nature that had been nurtured by harsh circumstances didn’t help her in the least in the first couple of years she was in the Academy, and thus she was friendless for the first two years, which allowed her to focus on her training.
In her third year at the Academy, Shirogitsune was approached by one of the instructors who taught hakuda and foot movement, noticing her lithe build. Though she was barely above average in zanjutsu, and only average in kidou, the instructor told her that she should learn more hakuda and perhaps try to get into the Secret Mobil Corps instead of the Gotei 13. Intrigued, Shiro began to take the class and quickly rose to the top of her class in both fields, finally gaining respect from her peers. Slowly but surely a few at a time began to approach her, and though she was guarded at first, Shiro slowly began to open up, even earning the nickname of Shiro as opposed to Shirogitsune. Though annoyed at being called Shiro-chan by upperclassmen at first, she decided it was well worth it once people started added the sempai instead. By the time she graduated and got into the S.M.C., the small white fox was somewhat sociable by nature and actually fun to be around.
While in the Secret Mobile Corps, Shiro began to advance in the ranks faster than her classmates did, thanks to her creativity of combining her hakuda with zanjutsu. The skills she had acquired both in her old lifestyle and in the Academy combined were formidable both in combat against Hollows and when gathering information. After a good forty years in the S.M.C., Shiro was requested to move into the 2nd Squad of the Gotei 13 as a seated officer. Though reluctant to leave the Secret Ops, Shiro complied and moved into the squad, unaware that her reputation had reached there before she had, still being called sempai. When she first arrived in the 2nd squad headquarters to finalize the move, Shiro detected two reiatsu levels approaching, one not enough to really impress, but the other one was unlike any she had felt while in the Ops. Not too long later, she saw two people come around the corner…her new oaf of a Fukutaichou and her new Taichou, Soi Fong. Bowing by training as they passed, Shiro immediately respected her captain due to the sheer ability she felt coming off, but somewhat disapproved on her vice due to his obvious shortcomings. Though neither spoke to her at the moment, Shiro was assigned as 8th seat of the 2nd squad. Since then, she’s successfully lead several missions and has worked her way up to 4th seat, hoping to earn the approval of her superiors.
Character-type Information:
b]Zanpakuto's Name:[/b] Hikaru
Personality:
Hikari has a serious nature and doesn’t mess around much at all. He has no sense of humor, but he has a strong sense of loyalty and devotion to Shirogitsune. He’s quite sly, crafty, and quick-minded. When it comes to combat, he’s ready to lend his services at any time, and he would formerly remind Shiro all the time that he was her power, not some unreachable entity that wasn’t within her grasp. He’s a good teacher when it comes to his special techniques, and as such Shiro has picked up on most of them. Hikari shares a small part of Shiro’s personality in that he commands some respect through his capabilities, but unlike Shiro he likes to show off his power when he can.
Avatar's Appearance:
Hikari is a fox that has the darkest of fur, so black that it even appears to soak up most of the light that hits it. All up the back of each of his legs, on the top of his head, and in a line from the base of his skull all the way to his tail are tongues of flame. His three tails are entirely comprised of flame. He has piercing blue eyes and sharp claws, along with the whitest of sharp teeth, each a few inches long. He stands at over ten fee tall on all fours, more than twice Shiro’s height. Out of his back extends a pair of wings, making him appear mythical as they are comprised entirely out of white feathers.
Activation commando: Shine On, Hikari!
Zanpakuto's Appearance:
In his unreleased form, Hikari doesn’t stand out much from the average zanpakuto. So that Shiro can more easily combine him with hakuda, Hikari is slightly shorter than an average katana length, though not as short as a wakazishi. The guard is round and black, taking the shape of a thick ring around the top of the hilt connected by a black cross of sorts, separating the guard into fourths. The hilt itself has black cloth that covers it down to the base, revealing several consecutive diamonds like a normal zanpakuto that are a dark red in color. The base of the hilt is rounded off with a smooth metal cap, dark as the guard. A thin red cord is looped onto the end, and at the end of the cord is a small fox tooth.
Zanpakuto's Shikai form:
Quite stunning in appearance for being a Shikai release, Hikari’s blade is a brilliant, shining red color. Down the middle of the blade runs a golden streak, starting a bit below the tip and ending shortly above the guard. While in Shikai form, the guard switches from round to a black square, akin to a cross with corners that bend to form the square. ((I can’t think of the term and my internet is slow…I hate to say this, but think of the Nazi cross. >_<)) The hilt remains the same color, but the cord switches to a leather strap about two feet in length. At the end of this cord is a thick brass ring about two inches in diameter.
Shikai abilities:
Ignite, Hikari!
When Shirogitsune cries this out, the purpose for the golden stripe is shown immediately. Red flames suddenly burst out of the stripe and run up and down the entire blade, making it look like the blade is made of flame. Three ‘tails’ of flame can extend from the main blade, each up to seven feet. When this command is given while her blade is either locked with an opponents or stuck in a Hollow, this can be quite effective and also makes it difficult for an opponent to get too close without getting burned.
Fire!
When given this command, Hikari shoots out crackling balls of fire at a high speed. Though fast, they’re somewhat not too huge at about three feet in diameter a piece. At the most, Shiro can shoot seven at a time and has to wait a short bit before firing off more if they’re to be effective.
Maelstrom
Not a spoken command, but rather a physical manifestation of Shiro’s hidden strength, when Shiro really gets into a fight, Hikari can let forth continuous jets of large flames that are released from the blade. Though Shiro rarely uses this, the damage that it can cause is to high enough of a degree that it leaves ashes and scorch marks in its wake. With each swing of Hikari, a new surge can be released. Shiro once powered up this technique enough to take out a Gillian that was about to eat her team, but she definitely felt the effects afterwards since it was a huge drain on her reiatsu.
Zanpakuto's Bankai Form:
Shiro is unable to use Bankai, but she can summon Hikari to be seen physically in his avatar form.

Sample RP:
Somewhere within Seireitei, the pinnacle of Soul Society, a long, man-made reflecting pool of liquid silver could be found in a solitary courtyard, seeming to be enveloped with an atmosphere of its own that none dared to intrude. The shining gleam of the pale yellow moon slowly danced across the surface of the silvery waters, rippling ever so gently. The ethereal peace was undisturbed this night, or so it would seem. At the end of this pool, about twenty feet away from the white walls of the courtyard, stood an imposing obelisk, however intimidating it may serve in another area, here it seemed to serve as an ever-vigilant guardian of its ambiance, eternally standing guard, yet at the same time, watching over the few lone figures who came here in peace with compassion, kindly as an old man who had seen many things. Where its pyramidal top came together at its peak, an equally ethereal sight could be seen. Perched on the top was a female shinigami in a black uniform, her blue eyes seemingly at peace. Sitting right behind her was a large fox, both bright with flame and dark with black fur that was in high contrast to the shinigami’s snow-white hair. As the sound of footsteps disturbed the atmosphere, Byakko Shirogitsune looked up at the fox right before it disappeared in a thin mist, returning to her zanpakuto.
A figure taller than herself could be seen running alongside the pool, coming to a stop about twenty feet away before shouting up as he slightly bowed. “Byakko-sempai! You’re wanted at squad headquarters!” Shiro frowned. True, she didn’t mind responding to calls most of the time, but it was a good night. She spoke back, visibly annoyed. “If it’s just someone trying to shove some work off his desk job, forget it.” The subordinate seemed a bit taken aback before continuing. “It’s a group of Hollows Sempai. They’ve been detected in the outskirts of Rukongai.” Shiro grinned. “Well, why didn’t you just say so?” She quickly leapt down from the obelisk. “Let’s hurry over there.” The subordinate just nodded before the two took off into the night.
